The site offers spectacular views overlooking the Bristol Channel and the Hangman Hills of Exmoor. With generous pitches (50) on flower bordered plateaux all offering sea views this site is a good base for exploring North Devon and Exmoor. Just sit and watch the changing moods of the sea. Seals, porpoises and basking sharks are frequently seen in these waters and the beautiful coastline has numerous sand and pebble beaches.

The site is situated between Bideford and Clovelly within the Heritage Coastline Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, being bordered by Woodland Trust land, with marked walks overlooking Bideford Bay. A footpath runs to the coast at Bucks Mills approximately 1 mile away where it links up with the South West Coastal Path. The entrance to Steart is signed clearly off the A39, and local bus services are available to other points on the coast which enable walkers to cover specific segments of the coastal path without having to retrace their steps.

The farm is a working livestock and arable farm situated right on the spectacular coastal scenery of Hartland Quay near Hartland Point on the Hartland Peninsula. It is a registered Caravan and Camping site less than half a mile from the sea with toilets and showers and with lots of space between pitches plus a number of electricity hookups. The proprietor Colin Davey's family have farmed in this area for generations and Mr. Davey himself has farmed Stoke Barton for over 20 years. Barton farm campsite offers a unique caravan and camping ground with good facilities and plenty of quiet and space to enjoy this "off the beaten track" and unspoilt area of North Devon.
